Tempeh Asam Manis (sweet And Sour Tempeh)

Ingredients
- 1 block of tempeh, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, coat the tempeh cubes with cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the coated tempeh until crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the onion, bell pepper, and garlic until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and water to create the sauce.
- Pour the sauce into the pan with the sautéed vegetables and bring to a simmer.
- Add the crispy tempeh to the pan and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Tempeh Asam Manis hot with steamed rice.
