Tempeh Goreng Pedas (spicy Fried Tempeh)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of tempeh, sliced into thin rectangles
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 red chilies, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon palm sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the garlic, shallot, red chilies, tamarind paste, palm sugar, salt, and turmeric powder to create a marinade.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the tempeh slices to the pan and fry until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the tempeh from the pan and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, sauté the marinade until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the water and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add the fried tempeh back into the pan and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Remove from heat and serve the Tempeh Goreng Pedas hot.
