Ingredients
- 1 block of tempeh, sliced into thin rectangles
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 2 red chilies, sliced
- 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon palm sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the garlic, shallot, red chilies, tamarind paste, palm sugar, salt, and turmeric powder to create a marinade.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the tempeh slices to the pan and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the tempeh from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté the marinade until fragrant.
- Pour in the water and bring to a simmer.
- Add the fried tempeh back into the pan and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and serve the Tempeh Goreng Pedas hot.
