Tender Beef Stew (Etli Güveç)
Etli Güveç is a traditional Gagauz beef stew that is slow-cooked to perfection. This hearty and flavorful dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (700g) beef stew meat, cubed
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the onions and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add the beef stew meat to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, cumin, and thyme, coating the meat evenly.
- Add the carrots, potatoes, bell pepper, and tomatoes to the pot.
- Pour in the water, season with salt and pepper, and stir to combine.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
