Ingredients
- 1 kg duck feet
- 2 slices ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 star anise
- 2 dried chili peppers
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
- 1/4 cup Shaoxing wine
- 3 cups water
- 1/4 cup rock sugar
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
Instructions
- In a pot, blanch the duck feet in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat some oil in a wok or large pot. Add the ginger, garlic, star anise, dried chili peppers, and cinnamon stick. Stir-fry until fragrant.
- Add the blanched duck feet to the wok. Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and Shaoxing wine. Stir to coat the duck feet with the sauce.
- Pour in the water and add the rock sugar and five-spice powder. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 2 hours, or until the duck feet are tender.
- Once the duck feet are tender, uncover the pot and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the Teochew Style Braised Duck Feet hot, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.
