Ingredients
- 4 pig trotters, cleaned and chopped
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup rock sugar
- 4 slices ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- In a large pot, blanch the pig trotters in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In the same pot, add soy sauce, rock sugar, ginger, garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick, five-spice powder, rice wine, and water. Bring to a boil.
- Add the blanched pig trotters to the pot. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2 hours, or until the pig trotters are tender.
- Once the pig trotters are tender, uncover the pot and continue to simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the Teochew Style Braised Pig Trotters hot, garnished with green onions if desired.
