Teochew Style Fried Tofu (潮州炒豆腐)

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu cubes between paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar to make the sauce.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, then add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add garlic, red chili, and half of the green onions. Stir-fry until fragrant.
  5. Return the fried tofu to the pan, pour the sauce over the tofu, and stir-fry until the tofu is evenly coated.
  6. Garnish with the remaining green onions and serve hot.
