Tepsi Kebab (spiced Lamb And Eggplant Casserole)
Tepsi Kebab is a traditional Kurdish dish that combines spiced lamb and eggplant in a flavorful casserole. This hearty and aromatic dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering.
Ingredients
- 500g ground lamb
- 2 large eggplants, sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground lamb and cook until browned. Remove the lamb from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté the onions and garlic until softened.
- Add the tomatoes, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes break down and the mixture becomes fragrant.
- Layer the sliced eggplants in a baking dish, then spread the spiced lamb mixture on top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the eggplants are tender and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
