Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture becomes a light caramel color.
- Stir in the butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Layer the phyllo dough sheets in a baking dish, brushing each layer with the walnut mixture. Repeat until all the walnut mixture is used up, finishing with a layer of phyllo dough on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the phyllo dough is golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
