Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, paprika, mint, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll it up, tucking in the sides to form a neat roll.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in the pot, seam side down.
- Pour the crushed tomatoes and beef broth over the cabbage rolls. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the stuffed cabbage rolls hot, spooning some of the cooking liquid over each serving.
