Tfaya (spicy Lamb Stuffed Bell Peppers)
Tfaya is a traditional Berber dish featuring spicy lamb stuffed bell peppers, cooked to perfection with a blend of aromatic spices and sweet caramelized onions.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 cup couscous
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized.
- Add the ground lamb to the skillet and cook until browned. Stir in the cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the couscous according to the package instructions.
- Once the lamb is cooked, stir in the cooked couscous and raisins. Remove from heat.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the lamb and couscous mixture.
- Place the stuffed bell peppers in a baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the peppers are tender.
- Serve the spicy lamb stuffed bell peppers hot and enjoy!
