Thayet Kyaw (tamarind Glazed Beef Ribs)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef ribs
  • 1/2 cup tamarind paste
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix tamarind paste, soy sauce, honey, chili flakes, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Marinate the beef ribs in the tamarind mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the marinated beef ribs. Cook for 10 minutes, then add water to cover the ribs.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  5. Once the ribs are cooked, remove them from the pot and place them on a serving platter.
  6. Simmer the remaining liquid in the pot until it thickens into a glaze, then pour it over the beef ribs.
  7. Serve the Thayet Kyaw hot with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
