Thayet Kyaw (tamarind Glazed Beef Ribs)
Thayet Kyaw, also known as Tamarind Glazed Beef Ribs, is a popular dish in Burmese Chinese Cuisine. The succulent beef ribs are marinated in a flavorful tamarind glaze and then cooked to perfection, resulting in a sweet and tangy flavor with a hint of spice.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef ribs
- 1/2 cup tamarind paste
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix tamarind paste, soy sauce, honey, chili flakes, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
- Marinate the beef ribs in the tamarind mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the marinated beef ribs. Cook for 10 minutes, then add water to cover the ribs.
- Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Once the ribs are cooked, remove them from the pot and place them on a serving platter.
- Simmer the remaining liquid in the pot until it thickens into a glaze, then pour it over the beef ribs.
- Serve the Thayet Kyaw hot with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
