Thayet Kyaw (tamarind Glazed Chicken Satay)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into strips
  • 1/4 cup tamarind paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together tamarind paste, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken strips to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated chicken strips onto the soaked skewers.
  4. Grill the chicken skewers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the Thayet Kyaw hot with extra tamarind glaze for dipping.
