Tian La Dou Fu (sweet Chili Tofu)
Tian La Dou Fu, also known as Sweet Chili Tofu, is a popular dish in Pakistani Chinese cuisine. It combines the flavors of sweet and spicy chili sauce with the delicate texture of tofu, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
- Pour the sauce over the cooked tofu in the skillet and stir to coat the tofu evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
