Ingredients

  • 4 fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod)
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge the fish fillets in cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the fish fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return the cooked fish fillets to the skillet and coat them with the sweet chili sauce.
  7. Serve the Tian La Yu hot, garnished with sliced green onions, and steamed rice on the side.
