Tibs (ethiopian Spiced Beef Stir-fry)
Tibs is a popular Ethiopian dish featuring spiced beef stir-fried with vegetables. This flavorful and aromatic dish is a staple in Ethiopian cuisine, perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 onions, sliced
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp berbere spice mix
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the beef slices to the pan and cook until browned.
- Stir in the berbere spice mix, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes to allow the spices to bloom.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and water. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Uncover the pan and continue to cook until the sauce thickens and the beef is tender.
- Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
