Ingredients
- 500g maccheroni pasta
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a round baking dish.
- Cook the maccheroni pasta according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the cooked maccheroni, Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Spread half of the maccheroni mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Top with the beef and tomato sauce mixture, then cover with the remaining maccheroni mixture.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and breadcrumbs over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let the Timballo di Maccheroni rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
