Tiramisu Elegante con Amaretto is a luxurious and elegant dessert hailing from Mantuan cuisine. This sophisticated version of the classic Italian tiramisu is infused with the rich flavor of amaretto liqueur, making it a perfect finale to any special meal.
Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup amaretto liqueur
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Whisk constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Remove the bowl from the heat and whisk in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
- In a shallow dish, combine the amaretto and coffee. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the mixture and arrange them in the bottom of a 9x9 inch serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
