Tiramisu Without Mascarpone
Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert known for its rich and creamy layers of mascarpone cheese. However, if you're looking for a tiramisu recipe without mascarpone, this version substitutes the traditional cheese with a combination of cream cheese and heavy cream for a delicious alternative.
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
- Dip each ladyfinger into the brewed coffee and arrange a layer of dipped cookies in the bottom of a 9x9 inch dish.
- Spread half of the cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream mixture.
- Sprinkle the top with unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
