Tjauw Min (tjauw Min)
Tjauw Min, also known as Chow Mein, is a popular noodle dish in Surinamese cuisine. This recipe combines Chinese and Surinamese flavors to create a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Chinese egg noodles
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, cabbage)
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Boil the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the sliced chicken breast and cook until no longer pink.
- Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook until they begin to soften.
- Add the cooked noodles to the pan, along with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Toss everything together until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
