Tofu And Mushroom Stir-fry Symphony

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cubed
  • 2 cups of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger, grated
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch to make the sauce. Set aside.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed, then sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  5. Add the mushrooms and bell pepper to the skillet and cook until they start to soften.
  6. Return the tofu to the skillet and pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything in the sauce and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve the tofu and mushroom stir-fry hot, over a bed of steamed rice or noodles.
