Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse together the flour, cold cubed butter, sugar, and salt until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Chill the crust for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool completely.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. In another heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns into a golden caramel color.
- Remove the caramel from the heat and carefully whisk in the butter and sea salt until smooth. Pour the caramel into the cooled tart shell and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, melt the chopped chocolate, stirring until smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the set caramel layer and spread evenly.
- Refrigerate the tart for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate is set. Serve and enjoy!
