Ingredients

  • 2 green plantains
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Fry the plantain slices for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  4. Remove the fried plantains from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  5. Flatten the fried plantains using a tostonera or the bottom of a heavy glass.
  6. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side, or until crispy and golden brown.
  7. Remove the tostones from the oil, sprinkle with salt, and serve hot.
