Toyugun Kebabi (azerbaijani Style Chicken Kebabs)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 large onion, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Skewers for grilling

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the grated onion, minced garlic, plain yogurt, olive oil, ground cumin, paprika, ground turmeric, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat the stovetop grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers.
  5. Grill the chicken kebabs for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a nice charred exterior.
