Traditional Bashkir Honey Cake (Традиционный башкирский медовик)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the honey until it becomes more liquid. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms.
