Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2-3 cloves
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, and cloves. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Now add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the chicken. Cook for another 10-15 minutes on low heat.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
