Traditional Chicken Curry (nadan Kozhi Curry)
Traditional Chicken Curry, also known as Nadan Kozhi Curry, is a classic dish from the Kerala Cuisine. This aromatic and flavorful curry is made with tender chicken pieces cooked in a rich and spicy coconut-based gravy.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
Instructions
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
- Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the chicken pieces, salt, and curry leaves. Cook until the chicken is browned.
- Pour in the coconut milk and simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with curry leaves.
