Ingredients

  • 500g fish, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook the spices for a minute.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  5. Add the fish pieces and gently mix them with the masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Pour in 2 cups of water, add salt, and let the curry simmer for 10-15 minutes until the fish is fully cooked.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
