Traditional Fish Curry From Bhojpuri Cuisine (bhojpuri Fish Curry)

Ingredients
- 500g fish, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook the spices for a minute.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add the fish pieces and gently mix them with the masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, add salt, and let the curry simmer for 10-15 minutes until the fish is fully cooked.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
