Traditional Tave Elbasani
Tave Elbasani is a traditional Albanian dish made with lamb, yogurt, and eggs, baked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lamb, cubed
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cup yogurt
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, brown the lamb and onions in olive oil over medium heat.
- Transfer the lamb and onions to a baking dish.
- Arrange the tomato slices on top of the lamb.
- In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, eggs, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the yogurt mixture over the lamb and tomatoes.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown.
