Transylvanian Goulash (Székelygulyás)
Székelygulyás, also known as Transylvanian Goulash, is a traditional dish from the Transylvanian Saxon cuisine. This hearty stew is packed with flavor and is perfect for a comforting meal on a cold day.
Ingredients
- 1 kg pork shoulder, cubed
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 green peppers, sliced
- 200 ml sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the pork cubes over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, and cook until the onions are soft.
- Stir in the sweet paprika and caraway seeds, then add the diced tomatoes and sliced green peppers.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the sour cream and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
