Ingredients
- 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 3 tablespoons Hungarian sweet paprika
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 green peppers, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons lard or vegetable oil
- 1 cup water or beef broth
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the lard or vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides.
- Stir in the Hungarian sweet paprika and minced garlic, and cook for a minute to release the flavors.
- Add the diced tomatoes, sliced green peppers, salt, and pepper. Pour in the water or beef broth.
- Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 2 hours or until the meat is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed and serve hot.
