Transylvanian Stuffed Peppers (Töltött Paprika)
Töltött Paprika, or Transylvanian Stuffed Peppers, is a traditional dish from Transylvanian Saxon cuisine. This hearty and flavorful dish is a staple in many Transylvanian households, and it's perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cooked rice, ground pork, onion, garlic, tomato sauce, paprika, salt, pepper, and parsley.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the pork and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and cover with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the stuffed peppers hot and enjoy!
