Ingredients

  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 1 cup okra, finely chopped
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Gradually add the cornmeal to the boiling water, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. Add the okra, onion, garlic, salt, and black pepper to the pot.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and the okra is tender.
  5. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
