Tsebhi Siga (eritrean Beef Stir-fry)
Tsebhi Siga is a flavorful Eritrean beef stir-fry dish that is perfect for a hearty and satisfying meal. The tender beef is cooked with a blend of aromatic spices and served with injera, a traditional Eritrean flatbread.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the beef slices to the pan and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the tomatoes, turmeric, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, and cardamom. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cover the pan and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat.
- Serve the Tsebhi Siga with injera or rice.
