Tula Gingerbread Temptation

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses, egg, and vanilla. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients. Mix in the hot water. Pour into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
