Ingredients

  • 250g tempeh, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sliced onion, and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add sliced tempeh and cook until lightly browned.
  4. Stir in red chili, red bell pepper, soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in water and simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and serve the Tumis Tempe Enak hot with steamed rice.
