Tunisian Chicken Shawarma With Tahini Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 4 pita bread rounds
  • Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Add chicken breasts and coat with the marinade. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together tahini, lemon juice, and water to make the tahini sauce. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
  4. Warm the pita bread rounds in the skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  5. Slice the cooked chicken into strips. Place the chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions on the warm pita bread rounds. Drizzle with tahini sauce.
