Tunisian Chicken Shawarma With Tahini Sauce
This Tunisian Chicken Shawarma with Tahini Sauce is a flavorful and aromatic dish that is perfect for a special dinner or gathering.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup tahini
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 tbsp water
- 4 pita bread rounds
- Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Add chicken breasts and coat with the marinade. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together tahini, lemon juice, and water to make the tahini sauce. Set aside.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
- Warm the pita bread rounds in the skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Slice the cooked chicken into strips. Place the chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions on the warm pita bread rounds. Drizzle with tahini sauce.
