Turkish Baklava Cheesecake Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 package (16 ounces) phyllo dough, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the walnuts, pistachios, 1/2 cup sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the prepared baking dish and brush with melted butter. Repeat with 7 more sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
  4. Sprinkle 1/3 of the nut mixture over the phyllo layers. Top with 2 more sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
  5. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the sour cream.
  6. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the phyllo layers. Spread evenly.
  7. Layer the remaining phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with butter. Sprinkle the remaining nut mixture over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and drizzle the honey over the hot baklava cheesecake bars.
  10. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then cut into bars. Serve and enjoy!
