Turkish Coffee Crème Brûlée

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Turkish coffee grounds
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and Turkish coffee grounds over medium heat until it just begins to boil. Remove from heat and let it steep for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain the coffee-infused cream into a bowl, pressing on the coffee grounds to extract all the flavor.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Slowly pour the coffee-infused cream into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  6. Divide the mixture among 6 ramekins and place them in a baking dish. Fill the baking dish with hot water halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly jiggly.
  8. Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  9. Before serving, sprinkle a thin, even layer of brown sugar on top of each crème brûlée. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy top.
