Turkish Coffee Panna Cotta (Türk Kahvesi Panna Cotta)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Turkish coffee grounds
  • 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream, sugar, and Turkish coffee grounds over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture almost comes to a simmer. Remove from heat and let it steep for 10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water and let it soften for 5 minutes.
  3. After the cream mixture has steeped, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean saucepan, pressing on the coffee grounds to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the coffee grounds.
  4. Reheat the cream mixture over medium heat. Add the softened gelatin and stir until completely dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Divide the mixture among 4 ramekins or small serving glasses. Let them cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.
  6. To serve, run a knife around the edge of each ramekin and invert the panna cotta onto a serving plate. Serve chilled.
