Turkish Lamb Kebabs (Türk Kuzu Şiş)
Türk Kuzu Şiş, or Turkish Lamb Kebabs, are a popular and delicious dish in Turkish cuisine. These tender and flavorful kebabs are perfect for grilling and are often enjoyed with a side of rice or bread.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 4 metal or wooden skewers
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, minced garlic, olive oil, yogurt, paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
- Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.
- Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
