Turkish Lamb Kebabs (Türk Kuzu Şiş)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 4 metal or wooden skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, minced garlic, olive oil, yogurt, paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  4. Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  5. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.
  6. Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
