Ingredients
- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 1 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups of mixed nuts (such as walnuts, pistachios, and almonds), finely chopped
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 1 teaspoon of rose water
- 1 cup of Turkish delight, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the chopped nuts, 1 cup of sugar, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Layer 10 sheets of phyllo dough in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Sprinkle a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
- Repeat the layers of phyllo dough and nut mixture until all the ingredients are used, ending with a top layer of phyllo dough. Make sure to brush each layer with melted butter.
- Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the baklava is golden and crisp.
- While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining 1 cup of sugar, water, honey, and rose water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- When the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over the hot baklava. Sprinkle the chopped Turkish delight over the top.
- Allow the baklava to cool completely before serving.
