Tuzlanske Punjene Paprike (tuzla Stuffed Bell Peppers)

Ingredients

  • 4 large bell peppers
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Stuff the bell peppers with the beef and rice mixture.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the stuffed bell peppers and cook for 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
  5. Pour the crushed tomatoes and beef broth over the bell peppers. Cover the pot and simmer for 45 minutes, or until the peppers are tender.
  6. Serve the stuffed bell peppers hot, with some of the tomato sauce spooned over the top.
