Ingredients

  • 500g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 3 tbsp tamarind juice
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
  2. Add shrimp and cook until they turn pink. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the bell peppers and tomatoes. Cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
  4. Return the shrimp to the pan and add sweet soy sauce, tamarind juice, sugar, vinegar, and water. Stir well to combine.
  5. Let the sauce simmer and thicken. Season with salt to taste.
  6. Once the sauce reaches the desired consistency, remove from heat and serve hot.
