Ingredients

  • 500g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 5 shallots
  • 5 red chili peppers
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Grind the shallots, red chili peppers, and garlic into a smooth paste using a mortar and pestle or a food processor.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
  3. Add the ground paste to the pan and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the shrimp to the pan and cook until they turn pink and opaque.
  5. Add the tomatoes, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt to the pan. Stir well to combine.
  6. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot.
