Udmurt Mushroom and Potato Casserole (Грибно-картофельная запеканка)
This traditional Udmurt dish is a hearty and comforting casserole featuring mushrooms and potatoes, perfect for a cozy family dinner.
Ingredients
- 500g potatoes, thinly sliced
- 300g mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 200ml sour cream
- 100g grated cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Spread half of the mushrooms and onions over the potatoes.
- Season with salt and pepper, then repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, mushrooms, and onions.
- Spread the sour cream over the top layer and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Dot with butter and cover the dish with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
