Udupi Idli
Udupi Idli is a traditional South Indian dish that is popular for its soft and fluffy texture. It is a staple breakfast item in the Dakshina Karnataka Cuisine.
Ingredients
- 2 cups idli rice
- 1 cup urad dal (split black gram)
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Instructions
- Wash the idli rice, urad dal, and fenugreek seeds separately and soak them in water for 4-5 hours.
- Grind the soaked rice and dal separately to a smooth batter. Mix them together, add salt, and allow the batter to ferment overnight.
- After fermentation, pour the batter into greased idli molds and steam for 10-12 minutes until the idlis are cooked through.
- Remove the idlis from the molds and serve hot with chutney and sambar.
