Ugali Pizza Delight

Ingredients

  • 2 cups maize flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup green bell peppers, sliced
  • 1/2 cup red onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Gradually add the maize flour to the boiling water, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly, until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pot to form a stiff dough.
  4. Remove the ugali from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Grease a pizza pan with olive oil and spread the cooked ugali evenly to form the pizza crust.
  7. Spread the tomato sauce over the ugali crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the tomato sauce.
  9. Top the pizza with sliced green bell peppers, red onions, black olives, and mushrooms.
  10. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
