Ugandan Flatbread (chapati)
Chapati is a popular unleavened flatbread in Ugandan cuisine, often enjoyed with stews, curries, or on its own.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1.5 cups warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the vegetable oil and gradually mix in the warm water to form a dough.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth, then divide it into 8 equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook each chapati for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown spots appear.
- Repeat with the remaining portions of dough.
