Ugandan Marinated Meat Skewers (akaboozi)
Ugandan Marinated Meat Skewers, also known as Akaboozi, are a popular street food in Uganda. These flavorful skewers are made with marinated meat and are perfect for grilling or cooking on the stovetop.
Ingredients
- 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the beef, onion, garlic, ginger, paprika, cayenne pepper, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure the meat is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to marinate.
- Thread the marinated meat onto the soaked wooden skewers, dividing the meat evenly among the skewers.
- Heat a stovetop grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the meat is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
