Urojo (zanzibar Pizza)
Urojo, also known as Zanzibar Pizza, is a popular street food in Tanzania. It is a delicious and savory snack that is perfect for any time of the day.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup minced beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal parts and roll each part into a thin circle.
- In a skillet, cook the minced beef, onions, and tomatoes until the beef is browned and the vegetables are soft. Stir in the cilantro and remove from heat.
- Place a portion of the beef mixture on one half of each dough circle, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the stuffed dough until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve hot and enjoy!
